Trust The Method.

This RVM education enables teachers to understand how the voice works; provides the tools to express and teach that efficiently to their students; and affords them the ability to navigate their own voices via technique and application into song themselves.

It Sings.

This technique and training of bridging the voice together from bottom to top—allowing a clear range without manipulation or distortion– applies to all genres of music and always works– no matter who comes thru the door to work on their voice.  A healthy, balanced, easy connection between head and chest voice is what most people lack and most people want.

Kathleen Riggs

Katie grew up in the heart of Hollywood in a home filled with energy, music and a parade of the world’s greatest singers. She’s inherited her vocal talent from her mother Kathleen Riggs, a coloratura soprano who sang French, German, and Italian operas and her teaching talent from her father, Seth Riggs, arguably the most distinguished and successful voice teacher in the business.

Music has surrounded Katie her entire life and at seven years old she began sitting in on clients’ vocal lessons—literarily at the knee of her father– observing him teach and very soon after Katie began taking voice lessons of her own. On any given day, one of Seth’s star students: Michael Jackson, Bette Midler, Stevie Wonder, Cher, Ray Charles, Barbara Streisand, Diana Ross, Luther Vandross or Madonna could be found vocalizing and rehearsing at their living room grand piano.

The Riggs Legacy

Katie has been shaped by this intimate proximity and deep personal connection to her fathers intuitive, results-based method. Its given her extraordinary vocal insight, extensive knowledge and a powerful voice of her own that allows her to sing the technique she teaches—vocally demonstrating exactly how to apply the method. At the age of seventeen Katie began her professional teaching career and has now devoted more than eighteen years to her craft, over half of her life, instructing singers in the Riggs Vocal Method.

“I am thrilled to provide the quality control to a new generation of teachers”

A FEW WORDS FROM SETH RIGGS
“Too many voice teachers feel that earning degrees from academic colleges and music conservatories will suffice as proper vocal training for their subsequent pupils.  Some of these vocal “technique” teachers have paid upwards of $250,000 per year amounting to one million dollars for an undergraduate degree and another $500,000 for a masters (2 year) secondary degree for the same “expertise”.

I say to you ‘I had complete scholarships for both degrees and wound up with the usual vocal disabilities of not being able to sing easily through the first passagio of my voice’.”

“How do you explain those vocal technique teachers with no degrees who can accomplish immediately in five or ten minutes, what you couldn’t in four years of a limited range repertoire in foreign languages which are known in these United States (where English is spoken)?

Frankly, you have to start what may amount to the frustration and years of searching for the catch phrase “bel canto” teaching, that unknowing or unscrupulous teachers claim will solve your vocal range problems.

I want to introduce to you the teacher I recommend, an excellent young lady who can help you accomplish the abilities I couldn’t find in school, or conservatory or private lessons. Her name is Kathleen Margret Riggs. She is my daughter and I have been training her, and passing on my knowledge to her since she was just a little girl of seven. Try her, dry your tears of unhappiness, control your anger and go for the flow of success. You will be following your dreams. You will have the extra notes easily that you will need to build your own individual style.  Get your nerve up, get off your tush, and you’ll be on your way.”

Best Wishes, Seth Riggs
